Top 10 Things to Do in Melbourne During the Crisp Winter

Many moons ago, I was fortunate enough to call Melbourne home for a short while. I was an undergraduate student and had the opportunity to study at Monash University for a semester. It was June—summer in the States—so naturally, I packed shorts and summer attire. Yes, I was one of those people who thought Australia's climate wouldn't be too dissimilar to my home country's (Indonesia). And yes, I didn’t bother to learn more about Melbourne before leaving.

Of course, the moment I arrived, I realized my huge mistake: I hadn’t checked what season it would be. It was freezing, and I had no winter clothes with me! I spent my first week buying affordable warm clothes on my student budget. Despite that chilly start, it didn’t stop me from exploring the city and having one of the best times of my university years!

Melbourne, with its dynamic blend of arts, culture, and cozy cafes, turns into a picturesque winter haven from June to August. If you're planning a visit during these months in 2024, this 7-day itinerary will guide you through the city's top winter activities, ensuring a memorable and culturally rich experience.
